Apricots and peaches did not impress me as much as local tomatoes. (Such sweet, in the suburbs, of course, did not ripen). Since then, my love for tomatoes has not faded, but only intensified. 1. Tomato "De Barao Golden"
Yellow, the size of a large egg, dense. They say that they are good in cans, but everything was eaten fresh at our place, it didn’t reach the cans. Typical De Barao in shape and structure, but noticeably tastier than all other colors. With pleasure the whole family eats. Lightweight, convenient size (about 80 g), beautiful.
In the short growing season of the Khabarovsk Territory, it is necessary to grow, of course, through seedlings. And better in the greenhouse - there they bear fruit until October. I grew up in the open ground, in September, before frosts, I took everything that was from the bushes - they matured well in bed.
Indeterminate variety, very powerful stems, up to 2 meters for sure, there may be more. The first fruits, 2.5 months after germination, bear fruit until frost. Beautiful such brushes from 3-5 even sunny fruits - it's nice to look. Healthy, require minimal processing, and sometimes do not require at all.
In the conditions of the Kuban, it was first tinkering with seedlings, and the next year they ascended from the fruit pecked by birds and overtook the seedlings. 2. Tomato "Sweet Date F1"
Here I am a little lost. I bought a mixture of "Sweet Date F1" company NK "Russian Garden". More precisely, I wrote out. Directly with them. Raspberry, red and yellow turned out to be date-shaped, sweet, with a pleasant taste. But orange grew balls, and the taste literally shocked me!
By weight they are all about the same, 20 grams each — for children, for one bite. Brushes grow about a dozen or a little more in each brush, the brush does not mature at the same time (or are we in such a hurry to eat?). Fly away like seeds.
Indeterminants declared about 2 meters. They were planted next to a 2-meter felt cherry, which in spring fell ill with "pockets" and left us without a crop. So, “Sweet dates”, left unattended for two weeks, outgrew 1.5-meter supports and climbed onto the cherry. It looked amazing - a cherry bush with an admixture of tomato leaves, strewn with tassels of colorful fruits. That is, their height was really more than 2 meters.
Medium-late, ripen 3 months after germination and bear fruit until frost. In conditions of August typhoon rains of the Khabarovsk Territory, the skin sometimes bursts. It is in the open ground. The plants themselves are healthy, they grow very wildly. When the place permits - not the stepson, they grow as they want, and bear fruit well on all stepsons.
These orange balls, “dates” I left for seeds and grew until we left for the Kuban. Seeds lost during the move (one move = two fires) The third year I buy new mixtures. Alas! In the new mixtures, there are no orange balls - all are date-shaped. Certainly sweet, wrist, beautiful, very good with their colorful brushes. But there are no balls ... By the way, there are no typhoon rains in the Kuban and tomatoes do not burst.

3. Tomato "Raspberry Sugar"
We generally prefer to eat tomatoes fresh. And this "Raspberry Sugar" fell in love with the watermelon pulp, aroma and wonderful taste. This variety goes to salads and sliced, and it’s very good to eat it when walking around the site!
I grow it in the Kuban by direct sowing in a greenhouse in March. Begins to bear fruit in July (mid-late), knots beautiful brushes of 3-5 pieces. The fruits themselves are 130-180 g, smooth and very beautiful. Fruits to frost. It will bear fruit in the greenhouse, of course, longer, but we still have not bothered with the greenhouse - it is somehow not yet associated with the Kuban greenhouse.
An indeterminant with the stated growth of 1.5 m, but I have a little lower, about 1.3 m. A harvested and healthy variety. Processed only onion and mustard infusion from stink bugs, which attack peppers and tomatoes for the second year.
By the way, about growing in a greenhouse: my husband made a greenhouse under a translucent polycarbonate canopy on the south side of the house. This is the influence of N.I. Kurdyumov. Indeed, tomatoes covered from atmospheric moisture are almost not affected by fungal diseases. 4. Tomato "Favorite SeDeK"
This is a workhorse. Early, I grow in soil, through seedlings. It is declared as a semi-determinant, 1.2 m, but it doesn’t grow above me, maybe because I don’t spoil it with fertilizers. The stems are thick, the bush is sprawling, I plant 40 cm through a checkerboard pattern and this is not enough. But I do not tie stepson and do not tie.
Tomatoes grow on high beds, when fruits are tied and the stems begin to lay down, I put the grate of shtaketin on the sides of the beds and attach the stems to them. The fruits do not touch the ground and everyone in the sun ripens well. The method is good for regions with strong winds, as in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, or in hot, dry summers, as in the Kuban. Where damp air does not stagnate.
This variety has plum-shaped fruits, red, very dense, 80 grams each. An 83-year-old relative said she couldn’t eat them - it’s difficult to bite, but they are unusually good in whole-fruit preservation. We eat fresh. In the cut, they do not crawl, and salads with them are not "wet."
In the brush of pieces 5. They give the crop together, the bed with ripening tomatoes looks elegant. Reliable plants: easily tolerate temperature jumps, lack of watering. Bushes are healthy, powerful with saturated bright foliage.

5. Tomato "Volgogradec"
Not everything is simple with this variety: my good friend, whose information I trust unconditionally, shared the seedlings of this tomato with me, recommending it as very tasty. I landed him in a protected and not the most sunny place. Tomato soil, medium ripening period, therefore - immediately into the ground and without any shelters.
The fruits grew medium-sized, 70 grams each, and they did not impress me with the taste, that is, they taste good, but not "ah!" Being in the summer with the same friend who was viewing new products of flowering perennials, I tried the same tomatoes with her - noticeably sweeter. She had this variety in the sunniest and most purged place. And without watering.
The next year I planted this variety in the same way - on the sunniest place I found, blown, mulched with hay and did not water it. Tomatoes are ripe wonderful! Smaller, 60 grams, red, smooth and tasty - and it’s nice to see and eat.
The determinant does not grow above 60 cm, the stems are strong, on the hands 4-5 pieces each, ripens together. I don’t stepchild and don’t tie it up, I grow it as “Favorite SeDeK”, laying it on a picket fence.
With health, he is not very - prone to late blight diseases. Although by the time the disease begins, almost all fruits ripen, so I remove the bushes, and the fruits reach home. Or the green go on a stew.

My observations when growing tomatoes
All the mentioned tomatoes, except for the "Sweet Date" are varieties, that is, they can be left on the seeds and further, by selection, even to improve the necessary characteristics. "Sweet date" - a mixture, is listed as a hybrid of the first generation (F1). But the "orange balls" I loved so much were grown from seeds of about 6 years without losing their properties, which is completely uncharacteristic for hybrids. Probably, the variety got into the mixture ... Would you know which one?
Of course, in a hot, sunny summer, all varieties will be sweeter and more aromatic, especially if you do not indulge with nitrogen fertilizers. But this does not mean that gardeners in the middle lane have nothing to hope for. Selection does not stand still and zoned tomatoes are more than enough and they are more adapted than heat-loving southern ones.
Every year I test F1 hybrids, plant a couple of pieces and watch. There are a lot of good ones. Hybrids show better health, flatness and marketability of fruits, productivity. The sweetest ones I got - small, cherry.
In our conditions, in addition to the sun and heat, the feeding with ash and the restriction of watering well influence the taste. That is, on clay soil for two weeks of summer heat without watering the tomatoes are transferred quite calmly, only they become sweeter.
Once I grew potatoes from seeds, sowed seedlings at home in a large capacity. Among the potatoes rose a tomato. Left - let it grow! Seedlings stood on a cold veranda with night temperatures + 5 ... +7. Planted early in the ground (potatoes!), Spud potatoes higher, and the tomato sat on the edge of the experimental potato bed.
He survived two temperature drops to +1, the stem became purple and very shaggy from villi. He wasn’t sick all summer, turned out to be a semi-determinant with large tasty raspberry fruits. Blossomed and began bearing earlier seedlings. Grew up for several years, but also lost when moving. Sorry.
